I am Chris Mills

Chris Mills, otherwise known as cmills, Chris, Mills, Millsy, that guy from Mozilla, wookie, hippy, beast, and a whole host of even less desirable names.

Music

I am a huge fan of music, both in terms of playing and appreciation. I have played the drums for most of my life, in bands and gatherings ranging in style from trad metal and death metal, through hardcore punk, prog, folk, and jazz.

I had a great time touring round Europe with the late, great Conquest of Steel for nearly 20 years, and currently play alternative prog metal in Vulturic Eye, and improv jazz/rock/psychedelia in a very low-key project called twentyeightfiftyeight.

In terms of musical appreciation, I mainly tend towards punk, prog, metal, and combinations of the three (leaning towards heavier stuff like Death and Grind — the classic Earache catalog, Floridian and Swedish death metal, Thrash, Hardcore punk, etc.) I do however have an appreciation for just about any style of music that has passion and skill; just about anything except manufactured, disposable pop music. Aside from the styles mentioned above, I have a particular appreciation for folk/roots music, old-school hip hop, some types of electronica, classical, prog, and more.

Work

I currently work for Mozilla as the content lead of the Mozilla Developer Network — I love the open web, tinkering with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies, and teaching web development to newcomers.
